Know It (Holiness Part 2 of 5)
This is a 5-part series on what it takes to grow in holiness.
With that desire in place, we need to know what to do. How do we actually grow in holiness? What actions do we take?
I think this boils down to being observant, listening, reading, and understanding.
This is where Scripture comes in. Where the Church’s teaching comes in. Where the lives of the saints come in. Where good spiritual reading and wise counsel come in. We need concrete examples and practical guidance, not just abstract ideals.
You might desire to grow in your prayer life, but if you don’t know what practices to try—where to start, what methods exist, what the saints recommend—then your desire just floats without direction.
Desire without knowing what to do is like wanting to get somewhere but having no idea which roads to take. You might move, but you won’t necessarily move in the right direction.
And notice—you don’t need the full picture. Just the first few steps will get you started.
So we need to learn. We need practical guidance. We need to see what the saints actually did, read what Scripture actually commands, understand what the Church actually teaches about how we grow.
Because holiness isn’t vague. It’s concrete. It requires specific actions, specific practices, specific choices we can make today.
