I love that phrase: vocation of the moment.
Yesterday we reflected on vocation in the big-picture sense — the particular mission our Lord has placed us here to fulfill over the course of a lifetime. That view is important, but it can also be daunting. What does God want of me? Where is all of this going?
Chevrot brings it back down to earth. All we really need to do is live the vocation of the moment. This moment — what is our Lord calling us to right now?
Because our Lord never stops calling. It wasn’t a one-time summons with a follow-up scheduled fifty years later. It’s a daily call. Hourly. Minute by minute. He is constantly drawing us toward what He needs from us in this moment — and He gives us the grace to answer.
Let us pray. Lord, teach us our vocation of the moment. Help us to hear Your call — not just once, but in every moment of this day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
